Spring 2008 Season Information Coach input and player nominations for the 2008 Spring Season will occur following the completion of the Fall 2007 season. Spring teams, schedules, rules and regulations will be found at the AYSO Area 1D site. Select Soccer is a soccer program for boys and girls run by Region 92 in the spring and summer after the completion of the regular fall season. Teams compete in spring leagues and/or tournaments outside of the region and the level of play is more competitive. To be eligible for the Select Soccer program, a player must have been registered and participated with AYSO Region 92 in the preceding fall season. Select Soccer Commitment: An indication of interest does not guarantee placement on a team. Whether a player is assigned to a select team depends upon the number of coaches, the coach’s player selections and the player’s coach selections. • TIME COMMITMENT – most select programs start around the end of February/beginning of March and end around the end of May. A league may have weekly games (usually on the weekends) whereas a Tournament will be a long weekend of games. The coach may call for 1-2 practices per week. • COST COMMITMENT: The costs of uniforms, chalk/paint for fields, league/tournament fees, referee deposits, etc., are shared by all team members. Travel is done at the player’s own expense. • TRAVEL COMMITMENT: depends on the program the coach selects. Leagues and tournaments may be local/South Bay or other areas.
