Soccer Terminology

When coaches and referees know and use commonly accepted terminology about the game, they help players and spectators to learn and use those terms as well. This ultimately improves understanding and communication for all involved. Consequently, it is important that all coaches and referees know the terms for things and actions that are part of young players’ games.

Referees must make quick decisions and the luxury of time to think it over, look it up, or discuss it with someone is not an option during the game.
